Luna’s 10 Week Journey
Training Begins: February 8th, 2026 | Training Ends: April 19th, 2026

Behaviors Luna will learn or begin learning during her stay here:
| BEHAVIOR | PROGRESS |
| Sit | Luna is really good at “sit”! She sits very well to be let out of the playpen, her crate, and at doorways. She also sits before she gets her meals and sits for attention. If she is jumping and I ignore her, she sits quickly. |
| Down | Luna is doing well with “down” and follows a hand signal of pointing at the ground very well. She is in the process of learning the verbal cue. Dogs are very visual beings, so verbal cues can take far longer than visual cues. We introduce verbal cues in this manner: “Luna, down.” Pause. Point to the ground. New cue (verbal) > Pause > Old cue (visual) |
| Name Recognition | Luna knows her name very well! |
| Touch | Luna knows “touch” very well and loves to do this behavior! I hold my hand out and say “touch” and she will touch her nose to my hand. This cue is very useful for getting them redirected and focused on us. |
| Recalls | Luna has a great recall, though sometimes patience is required if she has zoomies or she is playing with her friends. With no distractions, she recalls nearly instantly. In a stimulating environment (such as friends running around), it can take her a few seconds to realize she’s been called. Overall, she’s doing very well with this, and we will continue to practice it around distractions. |
| Go Into Crate | Luna has been doing really well with her crate. It took her a good five or so weeks to fully settle in the crate, but she’s been doing great for the last couple of weeks. She typically runs right to her crate when I say “night night” and happily eats her treat and goes to bed. |
| Leash Walking | This is the area Luna struggles with the most. She does great for indoor practice of loose leash walking, but as soon as she’s outside she just gets sooo excited! I have found letting her run around and get her zoomies out in the yard before attempting to walk her really helps. She does not have a very long attention span, though, so walks are kept very short to ensure she is successful. |
| Place | Luna loves “place” with a nice, soft dog bed. I think a bath mat, rug, or dog bed will make for a great “place” for her when she goes home. She goes to her “place” bed when I motion toward it, and is even starting to go to it with just the verbal cue. |
| Stay | Luna does find “stay” more challenging. She wants to move with me when I step away, so this has been a behavior we have really had to work on. She now stays while I walk several steps away and I am hoping to add in some distractions before she goes home! |
| Drop It | Luna isn’t much of a tugger so we haven’t gotten to practice this one too much. She does “drop it’ very quickly and easily when presented with a treat, though. |
| Leave It | Luna is progressing nicely with “leave it”. She will leave treats that are in my hand, and leave treats that are dropped from a small height. |
| Wait | Luna is learning to “wait” at thresholds such as in her crate and at gates and doorways. She was pushy around doors when I first got her, but is getting much better at waiting until she’s told she can go through them. |
| Potty Training | Luna has been doing a great job with potty training! She is a clean puppy who doesn’t like to soil her space. She does not show any super clear signs she needs to potty, but walking near the door is one of them. She does great on a potty schedule and can typically hold it for around 45 minutes while awake. She’s SO tiny that it will probably take a while before she’s able to “hold it” really well, but she’s made a lot of progress! |
Luna’s Detailed Update

Luna is SUCH a fun little girl! She is definitely not the most engaged with training, but she loves to play and is really good at entertaining herself. She is an independent puppy who likes to do her own thing, which often is not participating in training sessions. However, when she can focus, she is a quick study and picks up on cues with ease. Keeping sessions short with her helps a lot; she gets bored by repetition and thrives on many short sessions throughout the day.
Luna loves to play. She gets so excited when she gets new toys and really likes small tennis balls, small squeaky balls, and tiny plush toys that she can chase around. She also really enjoys the flirt pole and it’s a great way to get some pre-walk energy out. She is not great at fetch – as per her independent personality, she likes to chase but does not like to bring toys back. Instead, she will go off and play with the toy by herself. She is Miss Independent in all ways!
That being said, Luna does really love being part of everything I do and also adores her snuggle time and enjoys sitting on my lap. She really enjoys attention of all sorts when she wants it and is never far from me. In fact, it’s very hard to get pictures of her because she’s usually too close!
Her independent personality makes her able to entertain herself and she does really well in my office occupying herself while I am busy. Luna also really enjoys her nap times now and often, especially at night, I have a hard time getting her to come out of her crate because she’s belly-up snoozing and not wanting to get out of bed. She is zoom zoom zoom all day and in the evenings just wants to enjoy some peace and quiet. She is such a funny, silly, and sweet little dog!
Luna’s Favorites

Food: Luna is eating Pawtree Lamb mixed with Pawtree Whitefish. You can find a link to Pawtree products through the information Foxcreek Farm gave you.
Favorite Treats: Luna is not picky at all when it comes to treats, but she really loves these Nibs, and so do I; they break in half very easily. She also loves chicken and turkey!
Favorite Frozen Treat (to stuff her hoof/Kong/etc.): Luna really likes this canned food and also enjoys peanut butter and cheese whiz. I use a Toppl (size small) for all of her crate snacking. I coat the inside with peanut butter and add a spoonful of canned food. I am currently not freezing, but she will probably need her snacks frozen pretty soon since she cleans them out really quickly now!
Favorite Toys: Squeaky Balls – Flirt Pole – Another type of squeaky ball – Small Plush Toys – ZippyPaws Burrow toys are also a huge favorite!
Favorite Bed: This bed has become everyone’s favorite for around the house! She also likes having a Primo Pad in her crate, and I usually accompany it with a blanket like this.
Favorite Chews: Beef Tendons, Twizzies & No Hide Chews
