Stay & Play
$500/Week
The Stay & Play program is offered on a weekly basis and is a great option for families who are most concerned about early socialization and sleep training. This is a light board and train program that works on a weekly basis, so you can take your puppy home whenever you feel they are at a point you would like them to be at with sleeping and basic house manners. You will receive a weekly progress report detailing how your puppy is doing in the core skills offered in this program. The core portions of this program are listed below. If you are looking for basic obedience and beyond, please refer to our full Board & Train option.

Sleep Training
During your puppy’s stay, they will be learning how to sleep longer and longer throughout the night as they get comfortable with their crate and their body matures enough to eliminate middle of the night potty breaks. Be aware, it typically takes 4 weeks for a puppy to be sleeping through the night, but can take less or more depending on the individual puppy. Because this program is weekly, we can discuss how your puppy is progressing on a weekly basis so you can extend their stay as needed.

Socializing
The critical period of socialization for a puppy typically ends around 14 weeks of age, meaning those early weeks that your puppy leaves their breeder are the most important weeks for developing lifelong positive associations with their environment. The more positive experiences your puppy has with a variety of people, places, animals, and events, the more likely they are to be a confident dog as they mature. For families who have a lot going on and are unable to get their puppy out and about, this program helps get your puppy out and about while you get to continue living your busy life. Puppies get to go to stores, play with dog friendly dogs and puppies in the home, experience a variety of household activities (such as vacuuming, cooking, blow dryers, etc.) all while under the guidance of a trainer who will make these experiences positive and rewarding.

Manners
Some of the hardest parts of puppyhood are dealing with biting, chewing, and jumping. Everyone wants a cuddly puppy, not a little piranha! All of these “bad” behaviors are just natural puppy behaviors. Your puppy isn’t being bad, they are just exploring their environment and interacting with humans how they would normally interact with litter mates. While in the Stay & Play program your puppy will begin to learn that us humans are sensitive and we don’t like to be chewed on. Through redirection, rewarding for behaviors we do like, and building a schedule and management system, your puppy’s undesirable behaviors will start to be replaced with ones we love. Your puppy will learn to play with toys instead of clothes, how to sit for attention instead of jumping, and how to choose appropriate objects to chew on in order to make them easier puppies for your family to enjoy!

Potty Training
Potty training is a skill of progression and body maturity, and the older your puppy is, the easier potty training will become. We build a potty schedule and learn your puppy’s signs for needing to potty, all of which will be information sent to you prior to your puppy going home. Puppies do not have full bladder control until they are 4-6 months of age, and most puppies are not considered fully potty trained until 8+ months old. Through management of their environment, frequent potty trips, reinforcement for going potty outside, and recognition of signals the puppy is giving, potty training will progress on a weekly basis. You cannot expect a fully potty trained puppy in a few weeks, but the time between trips outside becomes farther apart the older they are, and they will be building a reinforcement history for going outside during their stay here.
